Life itself is poetry, and each passing year adds a new verse to our personal story.

An Old Man and a Cigarette by G.G. Marteluna

As the seasons shift and nature reveals its hidden beauty, inspiration flows through me, awakening countless thoughts. Recently, I’ve found myself drawn to writing poetry, inspired by the world around me—by the people I meet, the memories I cherish, and the living energy of everything that breathes. Life itself is poetry, and each passing year adds a new verse to our personal story.

And as I write, I’m also nearing the completion of my upcoming novel, a project I’ve poured my heart into. I am beyond excited for future readers to discover the unforgettable moments woven into its pages, and the unique world I’ve created. I hope this story will leave something memorable in the hearts of all who read it.

Here’s one poem I’d love to share with you.

An Old Man and a Cigarette
by G. G. MARTELUNA

An old man and a cigarette,
Sit hidden by the seaside set,
They share tales of times long past,
Of why love’s just a shield to cast.

I gaze toward the setting sun,
Through the streetlamp’s fading hum,
He listens to me on the phone,
Through a jester’s tears alone.

Why is memory ours to keep,
To live in its triumphant sweep,
When all I wish is to forget,
This fate that leads to one path set.

And as the evening draws its veil,
I pull the curtains, frail and pale,
And long to drift in many dreams,
To live among the endless streams.

What is tenderness? Just a sign,
From a soul astray, lost in time,
It flares up like a raging fire,
Burning you with luck's desire.

A man and woman sit in thought,
With heavy minds by life’s weight caught,
They sniff the sky, clear and serene,
And wonder of a fate unseen.

P. S. If you enjoyed the poem, please feel free to share it & sign up for my newsletter, as each one of you will become part of the story. A greater story we will write together. 🌹📖☀️
