Where the Sun Has Never Set

There is a place where I return,
One I see with every turn,
Its people are just like ours,
With needs and feelings that empower.
I often wonder in this tale,
Why even there, life’s lights grow pale,
And I wake from dreams unclear,
Hiccup, caught in memories dear.
Oh, how I wish to leave behind
All that’s known, my ties unbind,
To dress only in simple earth,
And cast away my history’s worth.
But that’s not so, not even close,
There, too, you feel the fire’s dose,
Or face the flood, an endless spree,
Washing the world and setting it free.
For the flame of truth burns bright,
Through undefeated souls alight,
Sharp as thorns, their arrows fly,
Sent with hope through every sigh.
Whether awake or dreaming far,
Conscience never fades nor scars,
Guiding me to paths unknown,
Towards the moon or sun alone.
How could I ever make you see,
This place so vast, so dear to me?
Yet I know it, through and through,
Eyes shut tight, it’s all I view.
And if you wish this place to know,
Offer your soul and let it show,
To the peaks, where high it rests,
Where the sun has never set.
